I don’t remember a lot of the beginning, but I do remember this dream took place in a motel, at first it was day, and everything was good, my dad was there, and what felt like, my friends, were there too, but I never saw anyone’s faces besides a few people and I’ll tell you who those were. My old boss, but not one I actually knew from real life came up and said that he had a talk with one if my other old bosses, except this was one of my old bosses from real life, Debbie, he told her i was a horrible worker and a liar, she said that I wasn’t, but he convinced her I was, Eventually that let to my dad and to start arguing outside on one the stairs about my childhood, and how it really went, I was standing on the stairs and he was standing on the walkway just above it. Eventually I walked up and into one of the inside stairwell i had been in earlier that day, it was still midday outside, my dad and I continued to argue, and I noticed that there was broken glass all over the stairs where I was, we kept moving through the stairs, but it didn’t seem like we ever really moved anywhere, we were still arguing during all of this too. Eventually I sat down on the stairs, tiny little glass shards all at my feet. We hadn’t moved anywhere. My dad stood in front of me and him and I continued arguing no matter how much I tried to get away, or end the argument. Eventually while I was sitting there, someone I knew in middle school came and sat next too me, her and I didn’t know each other well, but she was good friends with my first love Vanessa. She didn’t acknowledge me, or even seem to notice me. She sat down next to me and started talking to Vanessa, who had walked up in front of her too, the only other person who I saw the face of, during the whole dream, it felt like my best friend Nick was with me, up until this moment, when Vanessa showed up. She was dressed clothes I’ve never seen her wear, and she looked completely different then I’ve ever seen her, she had a purple mullet, and was wearing a lot of purple almost futuristic punk clothes. As my dad continued to yell at me, and Zephyr kept talking to her, I kept staring at Vanessa, partially hoping she’d see me and notice me, and part of me hoping she wouldn’t so that she wouldn’t see me and my dad arguing again like we used to all the time. Then she walked away, without ever noticing me. I followed her outside, it was nighttime, I felt tiny glass shards in my teeth and tasted blood. We were on this big open high-rise balcony, that seemed to be in the middle of a futuristic city. Vanessa was no where to be seen but my dad was with me, no longer yelling, he seemed concerned, I went and collapsed to my knees in front of the railing at the edge of the balcony, spitting up a lot of blood, there were little kids nearby, watching. Then I woke up.
Dreams often blend memories, emotions, and symbolism, creating a narrative that can be both familiar and unfamiliar. Here’s an interpretation of your dream:
The motel symbolizes a transient phase or place in your life — somewhere between destinations, reflecting a period of change or transition. The shift from day to night within the dream could represent the movement from a time of clarity to confusion or uncertainty in your waking life.
Your father being present and the ongoing argument seems to highlight unresolved issues or lingering emotions from your childhood. It suggests a struggle to reconcile differences or misunderstandings from the past. His position on the walkway above you may reflect feelings of being judged or looked down upon, while standing on the stairs and the interior stairwell symbolizes trying to "rise above" the past or move forward but feeling stuck, indicated by the broken glass.
Broken glass often symbolizes hurt, misunderstanding, or broken dreams. It being scattered on the stairs where you were arguing may represent the emotional pain from past conflicts still affecting your present and hindering progress.
The appearance of a past boss speaking ill of you may symbolize feelings of inadequacy or fear of being misunderstood and unfairly judged in your professional or personal life. The fact they convince someone (Debbie) of something untrue suggests anxiety about reputation or perception among peers or authority figures.
The middle school friend's presence, followed by Vanessa, may signify nostalgia or longing for past relationships or simpler times. Vanessa's appearance in futuristic punk clothes suggests change and transformation, highlighting how people from your past have faded into different people or roles.
Vanessa not noticing you could reflect feelings of being overlooked or invisible in both past relationships and current situations. Her leaving without acknowledgment suggests unspoken or unresolved emotions tied to your first love. It resonates with the fear of not being enough or missing a connection in significant relationships.
The futuristic balcony setting alongside feeling tiny glass shards in your teeth could signify the harsh reality and pain you feel in current life transitions. The sensation of spitting blood shows the emotional toll of the unresolved conflict and internal struggles. Your dad's demeanor changing to concern instead of anger might reflect your desire for understanding and support, despite the past conflicts.
Overall, this dream could be emphasizing themes of unresolved issues with significant figures in your life (like your dad), feelings of inadequacy or misrepresentation in professional settings, and nostalgia or unresolved emotions from past relationships. The children watching as you collapse might depict innocence witnessing the inner turmoil, suggesting a desire to shield or protect parts of yourself from pain, while working toward healing and reconciliation.
Reflecting on these aspects may help bring clarity to any underlying emotions or situations in your life, providing an opportunity for growth and self-awareness.
